Opportunities

The other day, someone kindly alerted me to the fact that I haven't posted since January. It doesn't seem like that long, but I guess the years go by faster now than they did before.
I could write a 10,000 word essay on all of the things that have changed since January. But you don't want to read that, and I don't want to write that. If university taught my one thing, it's how to be concise (although, some would debate that I still haven't learnt that skill).

And it's on that note, I offer the following points that neatly sum up the missing 6 months!
1. I left my retail job because I had photography opportunities. Probably the best decision I've made in a while.
2. I worked a few jobs in hospitality (because I missed making coffee, and I missed the people). My photography opportunity disappeared, but that's a good thing because it probably wasn't the right door to take. Long story short, if you want to be a fashion photographer, don't take a regular job shooting weddings.
3. One fateful haircut lead to a photoshoot.
4. This photoshoot lead to my photograph being a finalist in the Aveda Colour Harmony Awards.
5. This photoshoot also lead to a full-time job managing a clothing boutique.

So this is where I am. A manager of a beautiful boutique (She Envy), taking photographs for a great salon (She Creative). I live fashion and breathe photography. I organise (albeit small and amateur) Fashion shows with local models. We had one last Saturday night at a local club, and FTV filmed us. That was a little shocking. But it was a fun night, and I think they were happy with how we did!.
She Envy/Creative is holding another hair/fashion show next sunday night at Rhinobar, if any townsvillians are interested in a lovely night out!

I have taken lots of pictures since january, although I have been concentrating so hard on my job, that not many of them have been fashion related, or really bloggable. But that's the beauty of it, isn't it? Photos for the sake of photos.

Intermission.

Where to start...

Luke and I have moved into our new place. A nice cosy apartment above a coffee shop in the Townsville CBD.
Despite being in the heart of the (incredibly small) city, I feel totally cut off from my life. My routine has changed. I get up, have some toast, and go to work in a pretty little outfit, and size clothing from 6-18, and give smiles and catalogues to customers. Then I go home, and I read, and I cook dinner, and I watch a Louis Theroux documentary with Luke, because we don't have TV, only the series' we own, which we watch on his computer.

I haven't photographed much in the past few weeks, and I don't feel like myself. My mundane routine has begun sapping the creativity out of me, and at the same time motivating me harder than ever to pull something together. More than anything, I crave to shoot for a living again.

Perhaps because I need it, perhaps because I'm feeling generous, or both, I'm offering a very special price for photoshoots and retouching.

For the people, portrait shoots, group shoots, pictures for models and artists and musicians and stylists. 10 photos from each session, including retouching.

For the photographers, I am offering my services as a retoucher, at a heavily discounted rate.

If you are interested in hiring me, let me know at misslexiphoto@gmail.com.  Rest assured I am photographing for the love, and that will show in your pictures.

I have some more images on the way from a shoot with Hayley Tanna (my amazing MUA), as well as some new projects in pre-production.

Love you all,

Lexi.
